Looking for Some New Friends

Happy New Year everybody! Sam and I hope you feel optimistic about the New Year - like good things are going to happen to you. Right now, the sun is shining brightly in our neck of the woods and even though it’s only 23 degrees outside the house, we two boys are practically giddy thinking about the possibilities of good things coming our way in the future weeks and months.

One thing Sam and I are hoping for is some new friends. Not that we’re tired of our old/current friends, on the contrary. We just want to expand our circles. We might have resolved to make new friends in 2013, but we don’t make resolutions, so we’re just going to hope.

To paraphrase Mr. Rogers (who gently used to ask, “Would you like to be my neighbor?”) Sam and I are gently asking, “Would you like to be our friend?”

These kinds of people could be our friends:

“I have the kind of friends
Where, if my house was burning down,
they'd be roasting marshmallows &
hitting on the firemen.”

- raspberry lipgloss, From the Best friendship Quotes

And you don’t have to have special qualifications to be our friend but it couldn’t hurt:

“Sometimes in life, you find a special friend. Someone who changes your life just by being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop. Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship. When you're down and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full. Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times and the confused times. If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete because you need not worry. You have a forever friend, and forever has no end.”

- Unknown, the Best Friendship Quotes

Or you could just be the following kind of friend:

“Friendship is like standing on wet cement. The longer you stay, the harder it's to leave, and you can never go without leaving your footprints behind.”

- Moi, the Best Friendship Quotes.

Like the old 1975 rock and roll song by WAR (Papa Dee Allen, Harold Brown, B.B. Dickerson, Lonnie Jordan, Charles Miller, Lee Oskar and Howard E. Scott) says, “Why can’t we be friends?”

Poop on ‘ya if you don’t wanna’ be.
